Gregory – Markos Justin Mendez passed away on September 16, 2024. He was 14.

Markos was born May 11, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Hazel Tijerina and John Mendez. He grew up in Taft but was currently living in Gregory. Markos loved to be around his family, anyone that shared a glance, a hug or a smile would make his day. Markos will always be remembered as loving son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Silvia Tijerina and Jimmy Tijerina.

Markos is survived by his parents: Hazel Tijerina and John Mendez from Gregory, Texas; brothers: John Mendez, Jr from San Marcos, Texas and Joel Mendez from Gregory, Texas; sisters: Daisy Castillo (Nathan) from Taft, Texas, Penelope Mendez from Gregory, Texas; niece: Kariana Guerrero from Taft, Texas; grandparents: Anita Veracruz from Portland, Texas and John Mendez (Karen) from Houston, Texas.

Visitation will begin Friday, September 20, 2024, 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
