Martin Norberto Rodriguez passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was 74.
Martin was born on June 5, 1952 in Sinton, Texas to Concepcion (Para) and Mariano J. Rodriguez. Although he was a resident of Corpus Christi at the time of his passing, he lived in Taft and Portland many years.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Martin dedicated his life to serving both his country and his community. He was a gifted musician whose passion for music touched countless lives. He faithfully served as choir director at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft and was well known for playing bass guitar with the band "Kanela with a K". Above all, Martin was a devoted husband, loving father and steadfast provider who cherished his family. Following a long and dedicated career, he retired from the United States Postal Service.
Martin will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering faith, musical talent and the love he shared with everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alicia A. Rodriguez; his daughter, Priscilla S. Shaddock; his grandson, Joshua M. Torres; his parents, Mariano J. Rodriguez Sr. and Concepcion Rodriguez; and his brother, Mariano J. Rodriguez Jr.
He is survived by his children, Dorothy Ann Torres (Abel) from Portland, Texas; Annette Standley from Dallas, Texas; Roberto Soliz Jr. (Beatrice) from Odem, Texas; and Clarissa C. Rodriguez (Jerry) from Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jacob Torres from Round Rock, Texas, Abigail T. Caraker (Anthony) from Aransas Pass, Texas and Hannah Soliz from Houston, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Torres from Round Rock, Texas and Ava Ann Caraker from Aransas Pass, Texas; his brothers, Juan Antonio Rodriguez (Noemi) from Robstown, Texas and Jose Luis Rodriguez (Dolores) from Corpus Christi, Texas; his sisters, Maria del Carmen Mendez (Jesus), Amelia Rodriguez and Evangelina Rodriguez, all from Taft, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that evening at the funeral home.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft. Interment will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Torres, Anthony Caraker, Jesus M. Rodriguez Jr., Martin N. Rodriguez, Ramiro Lopez and Joseph Rodriguez.
