Mary Trevino Mireles Obituary

Mary Trevino Mireles, 84, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts.

Mary was born on May 18, 1942, in Taft, Texas, to Juliana (Longoria) and Felix Trevino. She was a woman of great strength, strong will, and an even greater love for her family. Mary had a presence that could fill a room, and those who knew her will remember her for her honesty, her determination, her generosity, and the many ways she made sure the people she loved were taken care of.

For Mary, cooking was a language of love. She showed her love by feeding people, and there was rarely an occasion too big or too small for Mary to be in the kitchen. Whether it was a quinceañera, a wedding, a funeral, or a simple house party, Mary could be counted on to cook enough to make sure everyone was fed. Her food brought people together, and the meals she prepared will remain some of the sweetest memories shared by those fortunate enough to sit at her table. She was also an incredible baker, creating treats that were made with the same care and love she gave so freely to others.

Mary was blessed to have the most amazing employers, David and Ann Engel, who treated her not simply as an employee, but truly as part of their family. Over the years, a beautiful and special bond grew between Mary and Ann. Mary looked at Ann as a daughter and affectionately called her her “Chickadee.” Ann felt that same deep love for Mary, cherishing her as a mother. Their relationship became so much more than that of employer and employee—it was a genuine family bond filled with love, affection, and countless treasured memories. Mary was deeply loved by the Engel family, and they will forever hold a special place in their hearts for her.

Mary loved her family fiercely. She could be critical, stern, and strong-willed, but beneath that strength was a mother whose greatest wish was to see her children succeed. She supported them, pushed them to become the best versions of themselves, and was always there when they needed her. She advocated for her children and worked to give them opportunities she herself had not been given. Her way of loving was sometimes tough, but it was always rooted in wanting the very best for the people she loved.

Mary's greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind and the love, lessons, traditions, and memories she instilled in them. She will be deeply missed and will forever leave a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Henry P. Mireles, Sr.; her parents, Felix and Juliana Trevino; and numerous siblings.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Henry Mireles, Jr. of Taft, Texas; Vidal T. Mireles (Luz Maria) of San Antonio, Texas; and Jacob Mireles (Marlene) of Illinois; daughters, Guadalupe Smith of Florida and Veronica Salinas (Adrian) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Brandy, Danielle, Lucas, Nicholaus, Jonathan, Christian, Vidal, Jr., Viviana, Caleb, Jacob, and Levi; great-grandchildren, Alyssah, Kennedi, Lucas, Jr., Camila, Vidal Mateo, Isaias Ezequiel, Aurora, Charlie, and Noah; brother, Ponciano Trevino (Consuelo) of Taft, Texas; her employers, David and Ann Engel. She also leaves behind numerous cousin, nieces, nephews and in-laws who she loved dearly.

Though Mary is no longer here to prepare a meal, offer her advice, or make sure everyone has what they need, her love will continue to live on—in the family she raised, in the traditions she passed down, around tables filled with food and laughter, and in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her.
