Mary Jo Pena, 45, of Sinton, Texas, entered into eternal rest on August 23, 2026. She was born on September 14, 1980, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Andres Pena, Jr. and Rosa Valdez Pena.

Mary was a truly remarkable woman whose love, kindness, and beautiful spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the kind of person who never took anything for granted. Mary was deeply grateful for the blessings in her life, no matter how big or small, and she had a way of finding beauty in the simplest things.

Mary was known for her selfless heart. She gave freely and generously, always willing to help someone in need. Even when she didn't have much to give, she would somehow find a way to help. She never hesitated to offer a kind word, a listening ear, or the encouragement someone needed at just the right moment. Her compassion came naturally to her, and she made people feel cared for and loved.

Mary had a beautiful smile that could brighten any room she entered. She carried a quiet strength within her and was brave in her own special way. She continuously strived to better herself and to become the best version of herself each day. She believed in growth, in second chances, and in never giving up.

Above all, Mary's faith was an important part of who she was. She believed wholeheartedly that God had a plan for her life, even when she could not always understand what that plan might be. Her faith gave her strength, hope, and comfort throughout her life.

But above everything else in this world, Mary was a mother.

Mary's greatest joy and most precious blessing was her daughter, Annika. Annika was the light of Mary's life, her greatest love, and the center of her world. Mary loved her fiercely and unconditionally. She was incredibly proud of her daughter and would have done absolutely anything for her. The bond they shared was one of the greatest expressions of Mary's heart. To know Mary was to know just how deeply she loved Annika.

Mary's love will continue to live on through Annika, through her family, and through every person whose life she touched. Although her time here was far too short, the love she gave so freely will never be forgotten. Her smile, her kindness, her strength, her faith, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain in their hearts forever.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Andres Pena, Jr. and Rosa Pena.

Left to cherish Mary's beautiful memory is her beloved daughter, Annika Rios of Sinton, Texas; her brother, Raymond Pena of Sinton, Texas; her sisters, Andi (Wally Jr.) Flores of Sinton, Texas and Sarah (Matthew Sr.) Munoz of George West, Texas; along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Mary's love does not end here. The love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain with us always.

Rest peacefully, Mary. You were deeply loved, you are profoundly missed, and you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again.

A memorial service celebrating their life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 309 Johnson St., Woodsboro, Texas 78393.
