Mary Geraldine "Jeri" Myers Obituary

Taft – Mary Geraldine “Jeri” Myers went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2025 at the age of 95. Jeri was born December 20, 1929 in Nix, Texas to Oscar and Virgie (Baker) Lively. Jeri was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. She was a devout Christian and member of the First Baptist Church in Taft for over 50 years.

Jeri loved to take pictures. She was always there for any event especially the reunions, school events, bridge club parties and especially “The Dazzling Dozen”. If you knew Jeri, that camera was always with her. Jeri retired from the Corpus Christi Caller Times after 45 years. After retirement (still taking pictures) she volunteered at the Taft Hospital, Coastal Palms Nursing Home and The Corpus Christi Cancer Society. Jeri and her husband, Jake, took many trips to other countries (still taking pictures).

Jeri is preceded in death by her loving husband: James “Jake” Myers of 68 years; parents: Oscar and Virgie Lively; siblings: Louise Springer, Allene Chambers, Joe Weldon Lively and Mildred Chambers.

Jeri is survived by her daughter Jana Mayfield (Larry); two grandsons: Jason Mayfield (Alicia) and Wesley Mayfield (Lesley). Seven grandchildren: Kylee Mayfield, Calvin James “CJ” Mayfield, Parker Mayfield, Payton Mayfield, Mallory Mayfield, Mason Mayfield and Riley DeLeon; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Taft. Interment will follow, 12:30 PM in Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Portland.
