Matthew Encinia passed away October 19, 2025. He was 26.
Matthew was born in Corpus Christi on May 28, 1999. He was the beloved son of Marie (Quilimaco) and Francisco “Frank” Encinia, Jr.
A lifelong resident of Taft, Matthew attended local schools and grew up surrounded by family, friends and the vibrant spirit of his community. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, generous heart and a smile that could light up any room. His warmth and kindness made everyone feel like a friend, and his respectful nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Matthew was a devoted Texas Longhorns fan and carried his love for the team with pride. He never met a stranger—his ability to connect with others and make them feel seen and valued was one of his greatest gifts.
Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Francisco Sr. and his maternal grandparents, Jose and Maria Quilimaco.
Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Frank and Marie Encinia from Taft, Texas; his brothers, Frank Encinia III and Joel Encinia (Marina); and his cherished nephews and niece—Ismael, Israel, and Jolina Encinia—who were like siblings to him; and his paternal grandmother, Lucia Encinia. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same day at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft. Burial will follow at Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.
