Rockport — Melvin Lee Valchar passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 91.

Melvin was born in Texas on September 21, 1934, to Bonnie Mae Tucker. He lived a long, full life defined by devotion to his family and quiet strength. Melvin was a loving husband, a proud father, a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, a brother, and a loyal friend. His steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed.

He shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bonnie, building a life rooted in love, family, and hard work. Melvin took great pride in his children and found his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his son, Jody Kenny, whom he held forever in his heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bonnie Valchar of Aransas Pass, Texas, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He also leaves behind his sons, Walter Terry (Laura), Garry Terry (Rosemarie), and Melvin Lee Valchar Jr., all of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Edwin Valchar of Rockport, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy; and his brother, Edwin Valchar.

Though services will be private, Melvin’s legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
