Michael Eugene Bryars

Ingleside – Michael Eugene Bryars passed away July 29, 2022. He was 71.

Michael was born on October 7, 1950 in Beaumont, Texas to Lona (Stephenson) Bryars Leith and Balfour "Joe" Haskew Bryars. Michael lived in Ingleside for 25 years. Before retiring, he had been a Merchant Marine, an aircraft mechanic, boat captain and steel worker. Michael was a dog lover. He was an avid surfer his whole life and also loved the beach and ocean.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Lona Leith and Balfour Bryars; step-father: Roger Leith.

Survivors include his loving wife: Libby Ronan Bryars; son: Christopher Bryars (Carina) from Manvel, Texas; daughter: Leah Bryars from Ingleside, Texas; 2 brothers: Roland Bryars (Nancy) from Pearland, Texas and Dannie Bryars (Patricia) from Pasadena, Texas;  4 grandchildren; Ethan Bryars, Autumn Bryars, Gabriel Bryars and Leonardo Bryars.

A Memorial Service will be held, at the First United Methodist Church in Portland TX on Saturday, August 13th at 2:00 pm.  There will also be a gathering and "paddle-out" at Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas that evening starting at 6:00 pm.
A second service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena in Pasadena, TX on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 pm.
