Odem – Ofelia Gomez Cancino passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 26, 2024.  She was 81. Ofelia was born in Odem, Texas to Inocencia (Vela) and Librado Gomez on March 4, 1943. She had a genuine heartwarming soul. Her talents for arts and crafts were unique and fun. She had a hospitality that always made you feel welcomed in her home. Ofelia had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making unforgettable memories. She was heaven sent to us all to acknowledge the love, support and admiration of an angel we all called “Nana”. Ofelia was a lifelong resident of Odem, Texas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding in death is her husband: Refugio Cancino; brother: Domingo Gomez; sister: Esther Nino and Sara Salazar.

Survivors include her daughters: Margie Fernandez from Corpus Christi, Texas and Brenda Cancino Cuevas from Odem, Texas; sons: Martin Garcia from Corpus Christi, Texas and Jaime Cancino (Melissa) from Colorado; grandchildren: Jennifer Gonzales (Fernando), Debbie Reza (Lee), Eric Lopez (Audriana), Kristen Cancino (Alex), Jenea Salazar (Roland), Nikki Vasquez, and Sulley Vasquez; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother: Alvino Gomez (Trinidad) from Odem, Texas; numerous extended family members.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 2, 2024, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Funeral talk will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024. 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery, Odem.
