Emory– Opal Faye Baker passed away on May 7, 2021. She was 71.
Opal was born on March 23, 1950 in Montgomery, Texas to Andrew and Louise (Bailey) Blake. She was a resident of Emory, Texas since 1995 and formerly resided in Lovelady, Texas. Opal and her husband, David, owned and operated the Ya’ll Come Back Café in Emory, Texas. Opal continued overseeing all aspects of the cafe when David passed.. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Charles David Baker; parents: Andrew and Louise Blake.
Survivors include her son: Paul Baker (Holly) of Portland, Texas; daughters: JoAnn Gibson (Michael) of Crockett, Texas and Ranae Bryan (James) of Emory, Texas; 9 grandchildren: Ethan, Caleb, Michael, Noah, Luke, Isaac, Emma, Brandon and Andy; brothers: Weldon Blake (Darlene) of Huntsville, Texas and J.R. Blake of Montgomery, Texas; sister: Esther Duncan (Billy Ray) of Conroe.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021, 11:00 AM at Church of Christ, Emory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Opal's honor to the Bryan College Station Church of Christ.
