Pamela Louise Burns Obituary
Pamela Louise Burns went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Austin, Texas, on July 23, 1943. Growing up, she lived in both Texas and California. San Antonio was ultimately "home" for Pam; where she raised her family. Pam spent the last several years of her life in Rockport, Texas.
Pam had a dedicated career as a Paraprofessional in Educational Diagnostics and Teaching Assistant for Special Education in the San Antonio ISD. She retired from SAISD at the age 59. She continued her devotion to working for children as a driving instructor for the Academy of Drivers Education (a family-owned business), SAISD, Judson ISD and Rhodes Driving School. She always took great pride in having the privilege of teaching Shaquille O’Neal how to drive.
A passionate advocate for children, Pam cherished the time spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids, attending their special activities and sporting events. She embodied tradition and is revered for instilling the Love of Christ as her family legacy. Her commitment to His Service was extended through Church, where she readily gave of her time and contribution toward preservation of life, needs of the hungry and children with special needs.
A devout Christian, Pam’s life reflected her love for Jesus and the Catholic Church. Her example of prayer, service, and generosity touched many lives. In faith, she worked hard and overcame challenging obstacles, instilling in her the desire to help those less fortunate. Her loving heart and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As a caregiver herself, she would want a special thank you to all those who lovingly provided caregiving services.
In her youth, Pam was a competitive swimmer and remained an avid sports fan, passionately supporting her Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She loved to travel, especially to the beach, and had a knack for finding hidden treasures in pawn shops around San Antonio, which fueled her love for jewelry. Music and dancing brought her joy, and she was always ready for laughter and celebration.
Pam is survived by her brother: Loren Shelton, Jr (Patricia); her three daughters: Kimberly Arch (Mike), Dana Kisel (Jeffrey), and Heather Bailey (Andrew); along with her grandchildren: Delaney Arch, Macy Arch, Cameron Kisel, Carley Waters (Ryan), Casey Kisel (Landri), Joshua Bailey and Hannah Bailey; and her great-grandchildren: Rayleigh, Gunner, Wyatt, Sutherland and Kyle as well as nephews and nieces.
