Corpus Christi– Paul King Hensley, affectionately known as PK and “Tuffy,” passed away on December 17, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on March 20, 1937, in National City, California, Paul lived a life marked by service, devotion, and a warm, outgoing spirit that touched everyone he met.

Paul dedicated 20 years to the United States Air Force, beginning his career as an Air Policeman before moving into K9 operations. He served as a handler, kennel master, and instructor, shaping the future of military working dog programs. His service included several one-year unaccompanied tours in Korea, Turkey, Greenland, and Vietnam, as well as an accompanied tour in Germany. During the Vietnam War, Paul was wounded while defending his base from invasion, an act of bravery for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also stationed at bases across California, Colorado, Arizona, and Texas, leaving a lasting impact wherever he served.

Following his military retirement, Paul continued his commitment to public service with the United States Customs Service for 25 years. Beginning again as a K9 handler and later serving as an Inspector, he played a vital role in numerous major narcotics investigations and was recognized with multiple awards for his contributions to national security.

Beyond his professional achievements, Paul was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He found joy in nature and shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends. Known for his outgoing personality, he was well liked and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Kennith Hensley and Della Ruth (Hart) Hensley, and his sister, Virginia Joy (Hensley) Wierl. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Donna Regina (Waller) Hensley; his son, Paul King Hensley Jr. (“Skipper”); his daughter, Delree Dee (Hensley) Burns; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and service.

Paul’s life was a testament to courage, dedication, and family devotion. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the generations he inspired.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM at the chapel.
