Phillip Eugene Taylor passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 with his family at his side. He was 86.
Phillip was born on November 6, 1939 in San Diego, Texas to Eva Irene (Marshall) and Willie Allen Taylor. He spent his early years in Abilene before returning to South Texas, where he built a life rooted in hard work, service and devotion to those he loved.
A natural mentor, Phillip guided and influenced countless young men through his years as a dedicated Boy Scout leader. His patience, steady presence, and commitment to character-building left a lasting mark on many. He was also a gifted woodworker, taking great pride in creating pieces that reflected both craftsmanship and care.
Phillip was an electrician by trade and took immense pride in his work. His affiliation with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was a source of honor throughout his career. Known for his reliability and skill, he earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Phillip was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and he will be remembered for his quiet strength, his generosity and the love he shared so freely.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Eva Taylor; and his siblings, Vernon Taylor, Marie Middleton, Nina Lewis, Alton Taylor and Charles Taylor.
Phillip is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Taylor from Odem, Texas; his sons, Scott Taylor and wife Terri from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Chris Taylor and wife Denise from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his stepson, Bryan Black and wife Leslie from McAllen, Texas; his stepdaughter, Wendy Elliott and husband Duane from Beeville, Texas; and numerous grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton, with the family receiving guests beginning at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Odem.
