Ennis – Rafael A. Casanova passed away peacefully on May 23, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was 62.
Rafael was born April 11, 1957 in Sinton, Texas to Noe G. and Anna (Abrego) Casanova. He spent his early years in Sinton, graduating Sinton High School in 1975. Rafael went on to receive a BS degree from A&I University, Kingsville. He was a resident of Ennis, Texas more than 20 years. Rafael was formerly employed by the Railroad Commission, and most recently as an Environmental Scientist with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and Papa. Rafael will be missed by all who knew him.
Rafael is preceeded in death by his father: Noe Casanova, Sr.; and father-in-law: John Cooks.
Survivors include his wife: Susan K. Casanova of Ennis, Texas; his mother: Anna Casanova of Sinton, Texas; grandchildren: Avril Bolton, Kristina Bolton and Benjamin Lacy; brothers: Noe Casanova, Jr. (Mary Jane) of Kingwood, Texas and Arturo Casanova (Yolanda) of Ennis, Texas; sisters: Joann Casanova of Ennis, Texas; Margie Luna, Iris Zepeda (Chris) and Christina Rivera (Ramsey), all of Sinton, Texas; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will begin Monday May 27, 2019, 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A holy rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Sinton. Burial will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
Pallbearers will be C.J. Zepeda, Ramsey Rivera, Noe Casanova, III, Bruce Santos, Diego Olveda, Steve Bolton, Enrique Trevino and Christian Garza.
