Refugio G Cancino

Odem– Refugio “RG” Garcia Cancino passed away on May 2, 2023. He was 84.

Refugio was born in Sinton, Texas on September 18, 1938 to Petra (Lopez) and Margarito Cancino. He was a resident of Odem, Texas.

Refugio was a retired barber after over 20 years. He was a jack of all trades from mechanics, oil field to farming. He also loved to be around and spend time with his grandchildren. Refugio was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his son: Margarito Cancino; parents: Margarito and Petra Cancino; sisters: Maria Soliz, Alma Perez, Gloria Reyes, and Elsa Hinojosa.

Survivors include his loving wife: Ofelia G. Cancino from Odem, Texas; sons: Jaime Cancino (Melissa), Refugio Cancino (Louise) and Jose Cancino all from Colorado, Armando Cancino and Martin Cancino both from Texas; daughters: Brenda Cuevas Cancino and Betty Benitez from Texas, Maria Marin and Victoria Landin from Colorado, Leticia Cancino, Blanca Inthavongsy; grandchildren: Eric Lopez, Kristen Cancino, Jenea Vasquez, Nikki Vasquez, Sulley Vasquez, Jasmine Cancino and numerous others; great-grandchildren: Javen Vasquez, Zayden Salazar, Ralynn Salazar, Zaniah Cancino, Jeremias Gallegos, Dazleeana Lopez, Dabriana Lopez, Daleric Lopez, Jeremiah Reed and numerous others; numerous great-great grandchildren; brothers: Jessie Cancino (Mary Ann) and Pedro Cancino (Cruz) both from Texas; sisters: Marcelina Martinez, Delfina Cancino, Ynasia Cancino and Elisa Hinojosa, all from Texas.

Pallbearers: Nikki Vasquez (granddaughter), Eric Lopez (grandson), Jaime Cancino (son),

Roland Salazar (grandson in law), Javen Vasquez (great grandson), Sulley Vasquez (grandson).

Visitation will begin Monday, May 8, 2023, 4:00 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Talk will be the same evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.  Graveside service will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at San Pedro Cemetery, Odem.
