Rene M. Cantu, Sr.

Sinton- Rene M. Cantu, Sr. passed away on February 22, 2021. He was 63.

Rene was born in Karnes City, Texas on September 20, 1957 to Jose Maria and Simona (Martinez) Cantu. He was a retired painter from Sinton ISD. Rene was a Sinton resident for most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death are his parents: Jose Maria and Simona Cantu; sister: Annette M. Cantu; brother: Robert M. Cantu.

Survivors include his loving wife: Olga Cantu of Sinton, Texas; daughter: Elizabeth Cantu of Sinton, Texas; sons: Rene Cantu, Jr. of Refugio, Texas and Anthony Cantu (Priscilla) of Sinton, Texas; grandchildren: Devon Cantu, Jon Rene Cantu, Adenah Cantu, Alexander Cantu, Aydan Cantu and Avery Garcia; great-grandchildren: Annaise Cantu and Avangelyn Cantu; sisters: Olga C. Garza (Tony) and Norma Carranza (Julian) all of Sinton, Texas; brother: Israel M. Cantu, Sr. (Janie) of St. Paul, Texas

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28th, 2021, 3:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Please wear a mask and sanitize hands upon entry and exiting. Social distancing of 6 feet or more is strongly encouraged. The family asks that you do not hug, kiss or shake hands. The funeral home has posted reminders throughout the service area. We understand that during this difficult time that is a hard ask, but it is necessary to keep everyone safe. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 1, 2021, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Sinton. Burial will follow in John J. Welder Cemetery, St. Paul.

Pallbearers will be Devon Cantu, Jon Rene Cantu, Alex Cantu, Justin Cantu, Josh Cantu, Israel Cantu, Ronnie Garza and Ernie Cantu.
