Richard Wesley “Dick” Maxwell of West Sinton passed away peacefully in his home on November 3, 2025.

Dick was born on May 4, 1931, in West Sinton to Cecelia (Kastner) and John Wesley Maxwell. He was the eldest of four children. Dick attended school in West Sinton and Sinton, later graduating from George West High School in 1948.

Dick met Ruby Finke on a blind date, and the two married on November 1, 1950. They were devoted partners, sharing 74 years of marriage until Ruby’s passing. Together, they built a loving family and lasting legacy.

Respected as both a farmer and a community member, Dick dedicated many years to supporting his children and others with their animal projects for the San Patricio County Livestock Show and Sale. Known for his great sense of humor, he enjoyed both hearing and telling jokes and playing tricks on friends. Dick was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 74 years, Ruby; his parents, Cecelia and Wes Maxwell; his daughter, Sharon Cobb; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Lee Maxwell; and his brother-in-law, Dom Reedy.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy Reedy; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Peggy Maxwell; his children, Dicky Maxwell, Gayle and Gary Burnett, Keith and Barbara Maxwell, and his son-in-law, Tim Cobb. Dick is also survived by his grandchildren: Greg and Theresa Cobb, Stephanie and Kenneth Trbula, Neal and Jessica Cobb, Gabriel Maxwell, Joshua Maxwell, Kimberly and J.R. Walton, and Louie Chapa & Stephanie Martinez, as well as his nephews, thirteen great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 12:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Funeral Service will continue at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.
