Odem – Rita O. Garcia passed away on April 3, 2021. She was 74.

Rita was born on October 22, 1946 in Taft, Texas to Dionicio and Julia (Gonzales) Ortiz. She was a resident of Odem, Texas for 60 years and formerly resided in Taft, Texas. Rita was a Homemaker. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband: David Garcia; siblings: Kiko Ortiz, Theodore Ortiz, Dionicio Ortiz, Jr., San Juanita Garcia, Josefina Adame and Arcadio Ortiz; parents: Dionicio and Julia Ortiz; son: David Garcia, Jr.; great-grandchild: Stevie Jay Garcia.

Survivors include her daughters: Diana Garcia of Odem, Texas; Dolores Tovar (Joel) of Odem, Texas; Dalia Garcia (Tommy Moore) of Odem, Texas; grandchildren: Jacob Garcia, Marissa Fitzgerald, Thomas Jay Garcia, Miranda Garcia, Lorraine Garcia, Mia Auster, Alissa Garcia, Joel Tovar, Jr.; great-grandchildren: John Garcia, Brayden Garcia, Rian Garcia, Lilly Garcia, Giselle Nieto, Julian Garcia, Armani Fitzgerald, Autumn Fitzgerald, Kross Leonard; brothers: Jesus Ortiz Sr. (Concepcion) of Taft, Texas; sisters: Ramona Ortiz Taft, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 5:00 PM-9:00 PM. A holy rosary will be recited the same evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021, 10:00 AM at Our Lady Guadalupe Church, Sinton. Burial will follow in San Pedro Cemetery, Odem.
