Rockport - We are sad to share the passing of Robert (Bob) Stone Hansen (83) of Rockport, TX, who passed away July 23, 2024, in Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by his family, from injuries sustained in a tragic fall. Bob was born July 08, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA to William Henry Hansen and Marrietta Eunice Hansen.

Bob was a Professional Engineer who continued to actively run his consulting firm, Robert Hansen and Associates, until his passing. He was particularly proud of his role as Structural Engineer of Record (EOR) for the design of Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, among many, many projects domestically and abroad. He earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska and his MSCE from the University of Iowa. Bob graduated from Snyder High School in Snyder, NE.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed sailing the Texas coast with Sharmon on the Moonstone, which brought them both joy and relaxation. Bob loved tennis and played competitively early in his life. In later years he could be found watching every major televised event. He was always working on a boat, car, home, or business project. Besides sailing and tennis, Bob loved fast cars, especially his treasured Porsche 911 SC which he proudly drove and maintained for 39 years. He loved to talk about sailing, tennis, cars and politics with a cold beer or glass of scotch looking out over Rockport, TX Aransas Bay from his porch. He was handsome, smart, determined, and stubborn. Qualities we all hope we have some of.

Bob was preceded in death by his son Michael Hansen.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife: Sharmon Hansen from Rockport, TX; his children: Steven Hansen and wife LuAnn Hansen from Scottsdale, AZ; Jan Schmidt and husband Layne Schmidt from Oro Valley, AZ; Greg Hansen and wife Catie Hansen from Houston, TX; grandchildren: Allison Hansen from Scottsdale, AZ and Graham Hansen from San Francisco, CA.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date in Houston, TX.
