Rockport – Robert Rudolph Rau passed away on September 10, 2021. He was 79.
Bob was born in Brunswick, Maryland on February 16, 1942 to James Rudolph Rau and Mary (King) Rau. He was a native of Brunswick, Maryland before moving to Rockport in 1980. Before his retirement, Bob worked at the Naval Base in Ingleside rebuilding mine sweepers. Bob was known as a jack of all trades, having remodeled his own home with his wife Lucy. He had a passion for sailboats, old cars especially Volkswagens, he enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles and animals. Bob was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents: James and Mary Rau.
Survivors include his wife: Lucy Crabbe Rau from Rockport, Texas; sons: Bowie (Kim) Rau from St. Augustine, Florida, Jimmy (Andrea) Rau from Durham, North Carolina, Joseph (Lupita) Wells from Rockport, Texas, Joshua Wells from San Diego, California and Kevin Rau from South Mills, North Carolina; daughters: Kristi (Randy) Davidson from Krum, Texas, Karon Barton from Needmore, Pennsylvania, Robin (Mark) Pope and Missy Klipstine both from St. Augustine, Florida and Charlene Rau from Columbia, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Aransas Pass. A Celebration of Life Ride to Hopper Landing in Austwell will follow after the service. Burial will be private.
