Robert Fontaine “Scooter” Barlow passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026 at the age of 92.

Scotter, as he was known affectionately by family and friends, was born on August 19, 1934 in Driscoll, Texas to Verdie (Taylor) and Joe Barlow. He graduated from Sinton High School in 1953. He supported both the Sinton and Odem communities, and although a proud Sinton Pirate who “bled maroon”, Scooter was not only proud of his alma mater, but cheered the Odem Owls alongside his beloved wife, Frances.

Scooter dedicated 50 years of his life to farming, a profession he loved and took great pride in. He was a dedicated provider and supporter for his family. Scooter loved his children and grandchildren (perhaps a little more), and was a tremendous pillar and influence in their lives. He will be remembered as a loving husband, grandfather, uncle and friend who shared stories, experiences and touched the lives of many throughout his years.
Scooter was a proud patriot. He rarely spoke of his time in the US Army Reserves, but his dedication and commitment was genuine.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Barlow; son, Glenn Barlow; daughter, Susie Van Winkle; parents, Verdie Taylor-Barlow and Joe Barlow; sister, Wanda Land; and brother, Joe “Buddy” Barlow.

Robert is survived by his granddaughters, Mikaela Barlow, Deedra Van Winkle and Hannah Barlow; grandson, Bryant Van Winkle; daughter-in-law, Heather Arnold; son-in-law, Damian Van Winkle; and niece, Sandy.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be Friday, September 25, 2026, 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Odem.  Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, following lunch, at Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.

Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
