On June 18, 2022, Roberto Hernandez Mendoza, age 50 passed away to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Robert was born on May 26, 1972, in Taft, Texas to Juan & Alicia Mendoza. He was a loving husband to his wife Melissa and a proud father to three boys: Robert Aaron, Ryan Andrew, and Rayden Aleczander.
Who was Robert? Robert was Bob the builder combined with Tim Allen’s Home Improvements. If it was up to him, he’d have a bud light in one hand and a hammer in the other, and if he had a third hand, he would have held a fishing pole. Robert had many hands because he embraced everyone he came in contact with. He was no stranger when it came to helping others out with their problems or projects. He also had his list of friends he was loyal to, and you know who you are. Knowing Robert, he is probably on the stairway to heaven dragging a BBQ pit, holding a bud light and a hammer with a plan to rebuild heaven trying to convince the angels to let him build his famous Halloween Haunted house that brought the community together. With all the home improvement projects he had going on, along with helping others out; Robert was most known for being a full-time loving husband and father to his three sons that he cherished. Robert has been a long-time employee of Elite Turnaround Specialist as the shop manager. During his time of employment, Robert made several long-lasting friendships. Robert was a continued supporter of multiple city committees such as: Taft Little League, Taft Chamber of Commerce vice-president, Taft July 4th Firework Extravaganza vice-president, a board member to the Taft Quality Improvement Corporation, Taft Planning and Zoning board member, and he also volunteered and organized community projects such as: Little League and Kiva Hut reconstruction, Hurricane Harvey road clearing, city clean-up, and the repairs of the gazebo roof. He had a strong vision to one day add sidewalks around the Taft Memorial Park. Robert said once that if this day ever came, he did not want a sad and boring event; he wanted it to be a celebration. Today, we gather to extend our hands out to Robert and celebrate Robert’s life. We love you and may you rest in peace.
He is survived by his: loving wife of 29 years Melissa (Vasquez) Mendoza; three sons: Robert Aaron, Ryan Andrew, and Rayden Aleczander; parents Juan & Alicia Mendoza; sister Sylvia (John) Meehan, brothers Juan (Tracy) Mendoza Jr., and David (Adreana) Mendoza; in-laws: Adalberto (Leticia) Vasquez; sisters-in-law: Jennifer (Joe) Tamez and Sandra (Roy) Benavides; 6 nieces: Luisa Marie, Alicia Marie & Gabriella Ann Mendoza; Jaselle & Jenika Tamez, Iliana Benavides, 1 nephew: David Luciano Mendoza; 1 great niece: Kaitlyn Cruz and 1 great nephew: Joshua Anthony Cantu.
