Sinton - Roman Jose “RJ” Zapata, III passed away May 18, 2026. He was 27.

RJ was born on December 29, 1998 in Corpus Christi, and spent most of his life in Sinton where he attended Sinton public schools and built lifelong friendships. RJ was known for his caring heart, his strong love for family and the pride he took in being himself. He shared a close and special bond with his mother and father, often seeking their guidance, comfort and encouragement throughout his life.

Above all, RJ loved being a father. His daughters were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He also shared a strong connection with his siblings and always made sure the people he loved knew they mattered to him.

RJ had a unique sense of style and carried himself with confidence and pride. Whether it was his perfectly combed hair, his jewelry, or the way he presented himself, he always liked to look his best. Those who knew him will remember his smile, his presence and the love he had for his family and friends.

Preceding in death are his great-grandparents, Cosme and Refugia Rodriguez and Benancio and Leonarda Olivarez 

RJ leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Monica Delossantos (Joe Angel) from Sinton, Texas; his father, Roman Jose Zapata, II (Sylvia) from Corpus Christi, Texas; his beloved daughters, Ava and Trinity Zapata from Sinton, Texas; his brothers, Michael Zapata from Sinton, Texas, Aedin Zapata and Jaedin Zapata, James Sauceda all from Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jon Zapata from San Antonio, Texas; his sister, Angelina Delossantos from Corpus Christi, Texas; his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Irma Olivarez from Mathis, Texas; his paternal grandparents, Roman and Oralia Zapata from Sinton, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Pallbearers will be Alfred Olivarez, Hector Olivarez, Zack Rodriguez, Victor Sanchez, Derrick Villarreal and Darren Castillo

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. A Prayer Service will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Sinton Cemetery.

RJ’s memory will live on through the love of his children, family, and all who were blessed to know him.
