Rosie “RoRo” Cecelia Jones, 84, from Refugio, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 1, 2026. She was born on a beautiful summer day, July 5, 1941, in Refugio, Texas, to C.C. “Son” Austin and Alma Austin.

Rosie was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and mother whose life was rooted in love, faith, and family. She attended Barefield School in Refugio, Texas, where she began building the strong foundation that would guide her throughout her life.

Rosie was united in marriage to Willie E. Jones, and from this union, her beloved daughter, Karen, was born. As the wife of a member of the United States Air Force, Rosie embraced the opportunity to travel and experience different parts of the world, enriching her perspective and life experiences.

Rosie later pursued higher education, earning her Associate Degree from Wesleyan College, now known as Delaware State University. Her commitment to service led her to work as a registration clerk at Taft Hospital and later with the Health and Human Services Division in Sinton, Texas, where she faithfully served her community.

She was a faithful member of Mt Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served on the Usher board and sang in the choir until her health begin to decline.

After spending several years in Sinton, Rosie returned to her hometown of Refugio, where she continued to be a source of love and strength to those around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Karen; her sister-in-love, Euna V. Austin; and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Aunt RoRo”: Ursula Kirkland (Edwin) of Lancaster, Regina Wills of Refugio, Andy Wills of Seguin, Jacque Marshall (Lawanda), Jerrold Marshall of Refugio, and Elise Austin. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Justin Richardson, Patrick Kirk and Johnny Mallard Jr., along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, C.C. “Son” Austin and Alma Austin; and her siblings, Alice Willis (Andy), Thersie Marshall (Alfred) and James Austin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, 11:00 AM at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 611 E. Ward Street, Refugio, Texas 78377. Burial will follow in the Refugio County Community Cemetery.
