Roy Edgar Chandler, 78, of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025.
Born on March 30, 1947, in Aransas Pass to Royce and Alcie Chandler, Roy lived a life dedicated to service, hard work, and unwavering kindness. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped much of his character and his deep sense of duty to others. After returning home from his service, Roy quickly became one of the top-producing Gulf Shrimp Captains for Gulf King, where he spent years working tirelessly to provide for his family. Later he transitioned to a quieter, more peaceful life as a bay shrimper. He was a simple man and would do anything for anyone, always offering his home to those in need. To many, he was a friend, a Papa, and to those who knew him best, he was Roy Boy. Simply put, a hell of a man, and he will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his son: Johnathan Chandler; his parents: Royce and Alcie Chandler; and his brothers: Johnny Chandler and Bill Boy Chandler.
He is survived by his children: Lisa Barker, Sean Shaler, Scott Shaler, and Stephen Shaler; his many beloved grandchildren; and his brother: Harry Chandler.
In keeping with Roy's wishes, all services will be private. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
