Ruben Omar Gonzalez

Odem – Ruben Omar Gonzalez passed away October 19, 2023. He was 86. Ruben was born on March 24, 1937 in Karnes City, Texas to Dora (Quiroga) and Mariano Gonzalez. He self employed as a Home Builder Contractor. Ruben was originally from Kenedy, Texas before residing in Odem. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death are his daughter Magda Hines; son in law: George Lee: son: Eden Gonzalez; grandsons: Jonathan Lee Hines; Javier Eden Gonzalez; parents: Mariano and Dora Gonzalez; brother: Rosbel Gonzalez; sister: Romelia Gonzalez.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years: Elva Gonzalez from Odem, Texas; sons: Ruben Gonzalez, Jr (Brigida) from Austin, Texas and Even Gonzalez from Odem, Texas; daughter: Laura Balli (Stephen) from Elmendorf, Texas; 8 grandchildren: Ruben O. Gonzalez, III, Mathew Gonzalez, Desiree Duenes (Eddie), Irma Martinez, Thomas Olivarez, Aaron Balli, Gabriela Balli and Edeena Rodriguez (German); brothers: Aureliano Gonzalez (Elida) from Zapata, Texas, Luis Gonzalez from Brenham, Texas, Mario Gonzalez from Edcouch, Texas and Emede R. Gonzalez (Rosa) from Houston, Texas; sisters: Melida Diaz from Roma, Texas, Gloria Flores from Houston, Texas and Rosa Nelia Hinojosa (Jorge) from McAllen, Texas; numerous extended family members.

Visitation will begin Monday, October 23, 2023, 5:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton. Burial will follow in Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.

Pallbearers will be Ruben Gonzalez III, Mathew Gonzalez, Aaron Balli, Thomas Olivarez, Abraham Saenz and Eddie Duenes.
