Ruth A. Dietrich, born to Louise Tittotson and Coley Bishop on October 21, 1937, passed away in her Rockport home on June 5, 2024, while lovingly surrounded by her children.

Born in Dover, New Jersey, but raised primarily in Texas, Ruth was a true Texan. It was at Ingleside High School where she met, and later married her first husband, Leon Haskin. Together they had five children and raised them in Kansas, Washington, and Texas. In 1970, Ruth met her forevermore husband and soulmate, Jackie (Jack) J. Dietrich Sr. They lived, traveled, and vacationed throughout the United States and abroad. While Rockport-Fulton, Texas, is where they eventually returned to lay roots, they previously resided in Libya (Tripoli) and Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. In 1978, Ruth and Jack returned to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She remained in Rockport until her passing.

Ruth spent most of her married life as a homemaker and mother, providing a nurturing, happy, and comfortable home full of love and laughter. While she enjoyed dancing, she developed a true passion for gardening (winning Rockport Yard of the Month). She and Jack were members of the Coastal Oaks Church in Fulton. Summers were spent hosting Camp Dietrich for her many grandchildren. Camp lessons included sewing, crocheting, baking, and gardening. Ruth also made it a priority to give each of her grandchildren individual time and attention so they felt heard and loved. Ruth and Jack would take their grandchildren on day trips to Mexico, across the Laredo border, for shopping. She was an excellent preparer of family meals and was known for her fresh bread/rolls and potato salad. For several years Ruth owned and operated a basket/gift shop in downtown Rockport called Little House of Baskets. Later in life, after Jack’s passing in 2000, she devoted her life to taking care of others as a personal medical attendant. 

Ruth is preceded in death by her mother and father, sister and brother, husband (Jackie Dietrich Sr.), daughters Tamara Dietrich and Debra Heasley, and sons Glen Dietrich and Lee Haskin II.

She is survived by three daughters: Lenora Pendleton (Jim), Rhonda Goins (Jerry), and Carol Harrison (Randy); one son, Jay Dietrich Jr. (Sarilyn); 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth wished to be cremated with her ashes buried beside her late husband, Jack, in the Fulton Cemetery. The family will have a private celebration of life in her honor.
