Sinton – Sergeant Herald R. Boyd, passed away on February 3, 1945 during World War II. He was 25. Herald was born on June 23, 1919 to Mr. and Mrs. H. E. and Zelpha Boyd. Sergeant Boyd, who was attached to the 8th Airforce in England, was lost with five other members of the crew of a Flying Fortress on February 8, 1945. He had trained with forces in the states for two years before going to England in December of 1944. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. H. E. and Zelpha Boyd; brother: H. E. Boyd, Jr.; sisters: Polly Anna Mayfield, Marthanne Boyd.
He is survived by his nephews: Larry Mayfield (Jana) from Taft, Texas, Ray “Butch” Mayfield (Paulette) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Mike Boyd from Colorado; nieces: Susan Alva (Luis) from Corpus Christi, Texas, Pat Carr (Randy) from Garland, Texas, Ann Wilson from Canton, Texas, and Nancy George from the area of Fort Worth, Texas.
Sergeant Herald R. Boyd will arrive Friday, September 9, 2022 at Corpus Christi International Airport. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 12, 2022, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Graveside Service will follow at 1pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.
