Taft — Steven Guzman passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 53.

Steven was born on November 28, 1972, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Rebecca (Muniz) and Jose Guzman. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished son, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend whose presence brought joy and laughter to everyone around him.

Steven was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and ability to make people feel welcome. For ten years, he worked at Turner Industries, where he not only built a successful career but also formed many lifelong friendships that he treasured deeply. He believed in working hard and enjoying life to the fullest.

When he wasn't working, Steven could often be found hunting, fishing, spending time with his brothers and friends, or tending the grill while sharing stories and laughter with those he loved. He enjoyed relaxing with a cold drink in hand and cheering on his favorite teams—the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and San Antonio Spurs. His quick wit, sense of humor, and gift for storytelling could brighten any room.

More than anything, Steven loved his family. He was a proud father and grandfather who found his greatest happiness in spending time with those he loved. His home was always open, and his daughters' friends were welcomed and loved as if they were his own children. His kindness, guidance, and unwavering support touched countless lives.

Steven will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his loyalty, his generous spirit, and the unconditional love he shared with family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Margarita "Margie" Guzman of Taft, Texas; his son, Steven Guzman, Jr. (Lauren) of Driscoll, Texas; his daughter, Desiree Guzman of Taft, Texas; his parents, Joe and Becky Guzman of Corpus Christi, Texas; his beloved grandchildren, Zulema Guzman and Caleb Guzman; and his brothers, Joe Guzman (Myra) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy Guzman (Amanda) of Kingsville, Texas, and David Guzman (Aida) of Taft, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Paul Garcia, Dave Guzman, Randy Guzman, Steven Guzman, Margarito Nieto, Cayetano Nieto, Alex Lopez, Tim Williams, Adolfo Serrano, Tomas Quintero, and JoJo Guzman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that evening at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Portland.
