Sinton – Su Cantu passed away peacefully May 31, 2022. She was 96.
Su was one of 13 children born to Eulalia “Lala” (Mesa) and Juan Cantu.
Su grew up in Sinton where she attended Sinton schools before moving to Chicago, Illinois. She worked for Marshall Field & Company where she was top salesperson many years running. It was through her dedicated work in the cosmetic/perfume department that enabled her to meet top celebrities including Cher, Judy Garland and Mikhail Baryshnikov, to name a few. Su moved to Appleton, Wisconsin years later to be near her sister, Alice, and Alice’s children. Su partnered with her sister who owned and operated a restaurant and hotel. Upon retirement, Su moved back to Texas to be near her youngest sister, Diana. Su was close to all her siblings. She visited her mother and siblings all across the country frequently, and always came bearing gifts.
Su was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding in death are her parents: Juan and Lala Cantu; brothers: Emilio, Ociel Sr., Charlie, John, Ruben, Leonard and Jerry; sisters: Viola Cantu, Alice Stzucko, Josephine Lenoir and Diana Jackson.
Survivors include her sister: Dora Norden from Rock, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, June 17, 2022, 11:00 AM at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.
