Sue Hunt (Threadgill) Kahler

Taft – Sue, 85, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2022. She was born in Taft, TX, on July 31, 1936, to Julius and Lorene Hunt. She graduated from Taft High School in 1954 and attended Trinity University in San Antonio. She married Tillman Threadgill in 1957 and helped raise his four children and they had two sons together.

Sue enjoyed many years of youth rodeo with her family. Numerous life-long friends and memories were made traveling to and from different towns for events. Rodeo was their life for many years.

Sue’s career life was filled with various jobs throughout the years; however her work done for the Veterans Administration in Sinton was the most rewarding to her. She loved meeting veterans and helping them to obtain the benefits they were entitled to that they often were not aware of.

She married Walter Kahler in 1989.  He preceded her in death in 1997.

Sue is survived by her children: Suzie (Kenneth) Gatz, Richard (Cindy) Threadgill, Jan Threadgill, Betty (Scott) Roots, Trey (Ronda) Threadgill, and Mark (Brenda) Threadgill; her 17 grandchildren: Shannon (John) O’Brien, Shelley (Kelly) Dreyer, Nathan (Lynn) Threadgill, Kevin (Megan) Threadgill, Kelsey (Hunter) Myrick, Kyle (Michele) Rothlisberger, Katie (Clay) Lewis, Amanda (Mark) Andrews, Tillman (Kirsten) Roots, Clayton Roots, Candice (JR) Wood, Clint (Mary) Threadgill, Brette (Hunter) Sorrells, Barrett Threadgill, Brady (Robin) Threadgill, Quinton Threadgill, and Holly Threadgill, and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Eugene (Potsy) and Roylene Hunt.

 Pallbearers for the service are her grandsons Barrett, Brady, Quinton, and Clint Threadgill; and her nephews Mike and Gene Hunt.  Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Gatz and Emiliano Alaniz Jr.

 The family would like to give a special thanks to Cheryl Longwell and the staff at Pavilion Assisted Living in Portland, TX, and the wonderful people with Harbor Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother.

 Graveside services will be at the Taft Cemetery on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 11:00 A.M.
