Nathalia Sue Mayfield passed away on the 29th of September, 2021 at age 75.
Sue was born on June 5th, 1946 in Taft, San Patricio County, Texas to Nathan Lemual Coates and Mary Frances Lovell. She lived in Taft with her dear family until marrying her beloved husband, James Paul Mayfield Jr.; Sue and Paul then moved to Sinton, Texas where they started and raised a family. Sue was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and dear friend to many. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Sue graduated from Taft High School and was a substitute teacher at the Sinton Jr. High and High School for many years, if you ever stood in her circle, you know. Sue was a co-founder and co-manager of the San Pat 4-H Horse Club for several years and always volunteered with the San Patricio & Aransas County A&H Show and Auction. Helping the community youth with livestock animals and roping was a true passion for Sue. She was also a San Patricio County Health Inspector until she retired. Sue was a hardworking woman who strongly loved and was endlessly proud of her dear friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Mayfield Jr; son, Brian Paul Mayfield; four brothers, L.L. Coates, Harold Coates, Dan Coates, Bobby Coates and one sister, Kathy Stephens.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Kelly Sue (Randy) Rothlisberger; her grandchildren, Alexandra Sue Mayfield, Taylor Elaine Mayfield, Britton Paul Mayfield; two sisters, Marydell (Jackie) Knox and Berthanell Barth. Sue also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton and the Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 6th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 606 S San Patricio St, Sinton, TX 78387. Interment to follow in the Sinton Cemetery, 507 Cemetery St, Sinton, TX 78387.
The officiant will be Sam Lankford. Pallbearers will be Jason Mayfield, Wesley Mayfield, Randy Rothlisberger, Britton Mayfield, Lee Ramirez, Christopher Casper; honorary pallbearers: Danny Hunt and Harold Coates Jr
