Sue Ellen (Moening) Rieder passed peacefully from this life into heaven on July 11, 2025. She was 67.

Sue was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on June 8, 1958. She was the seventh child of William K. Moening and Elizabeth Jeanne (Story) Moening.

Sue was a loving wife, a devoted daughter, a caring mother, a proud grandmother and a true friend to many. Her kindness, warmth, and creativity touched everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Sue attended East Penn School District and graduated from Swain Country Day School in 1976. She went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Art from Endicott College in Boston, Massachusetts. She later continued her education at the University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art and obtained her teaching certificate.

Sue began her teaching career in Wickenburg, Arizona where she taught for six years. She later moved to League City, Texas where she resumed her career in education, ultimately dedicating a total of 29 years to teaching before retiring in 2016. A passionate and forward-thinking educator, Sue helped pioneer a digital drawing and graphics course, which became part of the Texas state curriculum—an enduring contribution to the arts and education community.

Beyond the classroom, Sue was known for her vibrant spirit and love of celebration. Ever the party planner, she took great joy in hosting the Rieder family's annual Christmas and Easter parties for local farm families and their children—events that brought joy and community to many.

Sue’s life was defined by her love for family, her dedication to students and her generous heart. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, compassion, and community spirit.

Her legacy of love, generosity, and creativity will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her loving husband: Robert “Bobby” Rieder from Sinton, Texas; her two daughters: Tara Lynn Burgess (Chad Burgess) and Jeana Rae Luther, all from Portland, Texas; granddaughter: Elaina Lynn Burgess; grandson: Max Burgess; grandchildren: Elijah, Weston, Tristan, Eirabelle, Valen, Tatum, Lester, Birdie, Marion Janette, Hailey, Emmie, Beckett and Garrett; stepsons: Joshua Rieder (Amber), Jake Rieder (Ericka), Joey Rieder (Jennifer); and many extended friends in the farm community.

 Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Lumberyard Event Center in Sinton, Texas. The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Life Service will follow,  11:30 AM, followed by a meal at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue Ellen Rieder’s honor to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. in Tampa, Florida 33607. You will need to provide Sue Ellen’s full name, and Robert Rieder as spouse for acknowledgment.
