Tami Carlson, 66, of Ingleside, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026.

Tami was a fiercely independent and wonderfully unique soul who lived life in her own way, always marching to the beat of a different drum. She saw the world through her own special lens and possessed a creative spirit that could never be confined by convention. Tami was never afraid to reinvent herself, explore new passions, or simply be unapologetically herself.

Her journey through life was not always an easy one. She faced challenges and struggles that were often deeply personal and difficult for others to fully understand. Yet those struggles were only one part of her story. Tami was a woman of great depth and emotion who experienced both the joys and hardships of life intensely. Beneath it all was a person who longed to be understood, valued, and loved for exactly who she was.

Above all else, Tami loved her family. If you knew Tami, you knew how deeply she loved her son, Dallas, and her granddaughter, RyRy. They held a very special place in her heart, and the love she had for them was unmistakable.

Tami was known for her flamboyant sense of style, a trait she inherited from her father, and for her remarkable ability to continually reinvent herself. She had a love for animals and was known to take in strays, giving them a safe place when they had nowhere else to go. She also opened her home and her heart to people in need, offering kindness and a place to feel welcome.

Tami was a 1978 graduate of Ingleside High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Southwest Texas State in 1984. Her career in social work led her to serve in a variety of positions at nursing homes throughout Texas, including Office Manager, Director of Marketing, and Director of Activities. She brought her creativity and caring spirit to the people she served.

Tami also pursued many of her own passions, including modeling, songwriting, and publishing. Her creativity gave her a way to express the thoughts and emotions she carried throughout her life. Her most recent song, “Delete Me but Not My Memory,” speaks to the pain of feeling rejected while holding on to the belief that one's worth remains. Through her music, Tami left behind a piece of herself that will continue to tell her story.

Tami is survived by her beloved son, Dallas Bryce Carlson; granddaughter, Ry Ann Lynn “RyRy” Carlson; sister, Brenda Scott; brother-in-law, Greg Scott; nieces, Stephanie Scott, Jessica Scott, and Kendall (Ben) Baulkwill and stepmother, Kay Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annette Staley; father, Wally Carlson; and brother, Wally Carlson, Jr.

Tami's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who offered her kindness, patience, compassion, and non-judgmental support throughout her life. Your understanding and acceptance meant more than words can express.

Those who knew Tami will remember her unforgettable smile, her exuberance, her colorful personality, and her ability to live life on her own terms. She was, without a doubt, one of a kind. Though her journey was not always easy, she left an impression on the people and animals whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those who knew her.
