Troy Loveday Obituary

“Today, September 1, 2020 The Lord took my best friend, the love of my life home to be with him” – Cheyrl

Troy James Loveday, beloved husband, dad, pawpaw, brother and friend was born on December 17, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas. At 3 months of age his family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas but he forever remained a “razorback”.

In his youth he attended Gardendale Baptist Church but his life changed forever when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior while attending Weber Road Baptist Church. He was a mechanic; "The Lance Man" owned his service station in Sinton, Texas. Yet he made a name for himself in the oilfield as a loyal and loved employee of TIW for 30 years. His vast knowledge of his job was known by all who worked with him but greater than that was the testimony of his love for his Lord, his wife and family which far exceed his work. When he wasn’t working you would find him fishing. He took great pride in the retelling of the many stories and years he spent with his dad and brothers on Padre Island. He never failed to acknowledge that his greatest catch was when he married his high school sweetheart. Troy and Cheyrl met at Carroll High and were married on August 2, 1964 having just celebrated 56 of marriage. They had 3 daughters –“His girls” and beginning in 1994 he settled into his favorite role as Pawpaw to his 3 beloved grandkids and to his multiple adopted grandbabies he loved and spoiled at Heritage Baptist Church where he faithfully and joyfully served as deacon; head usher and biggest supporter of his pastor.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents: Troy and Ruby Loveday; his beloved in-laws: Bill and Oleta Utter; his siblings: Harold Loveday, Gerry Schroeder, Yvonne Cordell, Charles Loveday, Ira Loveday, Darrell Loveday, Farrell Loveday and Grady Loveday.

He is survived by his darling wife: Cheyrl Loveday of Sinton, Texas; his girls: Tracy Turner (Brandon) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Connie Pruitt (Lester) of Livingston, Louisiana, Tammy Lyons (Steve) of Sinton, Texas; his grandchildren: Megan Pruitt, Will Lyons, Brianna Lyons; adopted grandchildren: Daniella Davila and Desirae Davila; his siblings: Frances Dangler of Corpus Christi, Texas, Deborah Sommers (Pete) of Virginia, Gary Loveday (Debbie) of Odem, Texas, Rick Loveday (Tana) of Refugio, Texas, Mike Loveday (Julia) of Edroy, Texas; the many treasured friends and family as well as his church family.
