John William Saunders

John William Saunders, 78, passed from this life July 3, 2015 in New Braunfels, Texas after a long illness.  He was born on July 26, 1936 in Kingsville, Texas to Charles Froman and Mary Susan Saunders. John graduated from A&I University and began a teaching and coaching career.   He taught in LaFeria and Poteet before settling his family in Sinton.

He was a teacher and mentor to many young people who grew up and attended Sinton schools. He was very active with the 4-H program, San Patricio-Aransas Counties A&H Show and was instrumental in establishing the A&H Show Auction.  His summers were spent trading cattle and traveling with his four children around the state to TYRA rodeos.  After a 17 year teaching career, he began ranching full time and settled in Seguin.  John is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Charles and Jimmy Saunders; and three sisters: Nanalee Gillette, Louise Walshe and Wilma Dollery. Survivors include three daughters: Cindy (Steven) Troup of Sinton, Texas; Paula (Sandie) Bostick of Gruene, Texas; Becky Crunk of Gruene, Texas; one son: John (Jinnifer) Saunders of Paris,Texas: six grandchildren: Robert Bryan Troup, Dusty William Troup, Brent Alan Woelke, Jake Lewis Bostick, Kody Lane Bostick and Dain Ross Thurman: three great grandchildren: Karleigh Rhae, Hollis Rhett and K'Lyn Rhachelle Troup of Sinton: two sisters: Betty Campbell of Pleasanton and Pat (Sig) Fink of Fairbanks, Alaska; and numerous nieces,  nephews and many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2:00 PM, at The Country Church in Marion, Texas.  The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Kirkwood Manor for their loving care and compassion during his illness.
